茶樹菇又名茶薪菇，柱壯田頭菇，楊樹菇，柳松菇，日本人稱柳松茸。含豐富蛋白質，包括人體不能合成的8種氨基酸。有保健藥用功能，食後能促進人體代謝，調節改善體內循環。茶樹菇性平，甘溫，無毒，有清熱，平肝，明目的功效，可以補腎、利尿、滲濕、健脾、止瀉，民間常用於治療腰酸痛、胃冷、腎炎水腫、頭暈、腹痛、嘔吐等症。還具有降血壓，抗衰老和抗癌的特殊功能。因此被民間稱為「神菇」。
